We believe that all young people have the ability to become captains of their own lives and that the challenges of Sailing and Watersports promote healthy life values and a connection with nature, building essential personal skills.

We give the children of The Bahamas the opportunity to grow on the water and learn how to master the elements and themselves.

What we do

We’re more than a sailing school. At Eleuthera Sailing Academy, every program we offer supports our mission: to empower young Bahamians, preserve island traditions, and build community through wind and water.

What a great way to finish the summer ❤️🇧🇸

A three-day camp ending in smiles! Coaches Ashley Hoguet, Max Dressel and Tanaj Manos, coming directly from PLEON, hosted a three-day camp focused on getting new sailors introduced into the world of racing.

We hope that the skills and techniques learned over the course of the camp will act as the building grounds to grow into great racers for the Eleuthera Sailing Academy!

Day One drills focused on boat handling basics and trimming techniques.

On Day Two, sailors worked on understanding the rules of racing and starting strategy.

Finally, they put everything together on the last day for some competitive racing at the ESA-Pleon-ESC Regatta.

Congratulations to our top 3 sailors of the races: 1st Place Marc “Ensky” Maxime, 2nd Place Eli Archer, 3rd Place Leslie Sineus.

All the young sailors that participated in this 3-day Camp were apart of our Summer Sailing Program this summer (June-August 2026), except one. This young sailor has earned the Sportsmanship Award, for his very first-time sailing, he adapted quickly, followed instructions, kept up with the team and was in his own boat by Day 2!! And racing in his first Regatta on Day 3!!

Congratulations Bryson Fergerson for reminding us to take the risk, try new things, and have no fear. We are very proud & we welcome all our young sailors (introduction) across Eleuthera.

We are excited for the Semester ahead as we anticipate a new fleet of Eleuthera Sailors, working more with local schools, organizations & businesses to build our National Sport.

SUMMER CAMP RECAP — PART 2 ⛵️🌱

This summer marked an important milestone for Eleuthera Sailing Academy. For the first time, our programmes continued successfully while Carlien and Martin were away—and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone who stepped up!

Coaches Dion and Chevy did a fantastic job leading the camps and keeping everything running smoothly and safely.

It was inspiring to see Leon, Finley and Lorenzo—sailors who have come through ESA—helping the younger children and passing on the skills and confidence they gained along the way. This is what ESA is all about: learning, growing and giving back to the next generation. 💙

A huge thank-you also goes to our wonderful volunteers Marise, Evie, Karsten and Reagan. Your energy, enthusiasm and commitment made such a positive difference throughout the camps!

We are especially grateful to Craig, Dougie, Elizabeth and Ty, and Dana and Andy for their generous support, which helped make these summer camps possible. ❤️💪 @makethemsailors

Our sincere thanks also go to the Ministry of Tourism for supporting opportunities for children across Eleuthera, and to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for giving almost 15 children from Central and South Eleuthera the opportunity to learn to sail this summer.

SUMMER CAMP RECAP — PART 1 ⛵️☀️

What a summer at Eleuthera Sailing Academy!

Throughout our June and August camps, so many children from Eleuthera had the opportunity to get on the water, learn to sail, build confidence and—most importantly—have a lot of fun. Just look at all those smiles and laughs!

A huge thank-you to our amazing ESA coaches Chevy, and Dion, plus Dutch volunteers Marise and Evie -@marise__h, @evierolf- who did an outstanding job running the camps, keeping everyone safe and creating an unforgettable experience for the kids.

The July camp was sponsored by the Ministry of Youth and Sports ❤️🔥

We are also incredibly grateful to Karsten and Reagan, who travelled all the way from the United States to volunteer with us. They also started a wonderful initiative called @sailsforsouls, helping more young people experience the power of sailing.

This summer was full of energy, teamwork and community. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!
